Baptisms, bachelorette parties, weddings, and showers, Greek Town’s power team, The Greek and Level Two Bar & Rooftop can do it all.
Delivering chic, style in a unassuming, cozy atmosphere is what these restaurants do best. Prime service, food, and a fully stocked bar are part of the package. Located in downtown Detroit, Level Two overlooks the brightly lit avenue of Monroe street, just feet from The Greek whose doors swing wide to welcome hungry passersby with waves of rich spices and music.
“We’ve been here for seven years now, so people know us,” says co-owner Mike Zografos, “We have a pretty good rapport, people have a pretty good time.”
However, what most of their clients don’t know is their vast menu which includes mediterranean and American classics is provided by their sister restaurant, The Greek, owned by the second Level Two owner, Dino Karamidas.
Together, the power duo are able to present the perfect location for every event, whether you’re seating 3, 35 or 350.
Yianni Linardakis, manager at The Greek, said, “We have a couple big churches on either side of us, so a lot of people come for a reception dinner here or bridal showers, baby showers and rehearsals.”
Zografos agreed, “It’s very convenient to hop on over to the Greek or (Level Two) afterwards, depending on what they prefer. It’s the perfect size.”
Tasteful under bar lighting and menus unite the restaurants’ two themes, however in every other aspect, the pair meet different needs.
“They’re completely different — two different animals. The Greek is family, casual … a cozy restaurant (and) it’s kid friendly as well,” said Zografos.
Whereas, Level Two is chic style club and best known for its night scene with weekly DJ and dancing from Thursday to Saturday. Still before 10:00 pm, the floor is open for “everything across the board,” from private birthdays to corporate and holiday parties, wedding rehearsals, bachelorette parties and even a wedding or two.
“Honestly, it’s for people who don’t want a very formal setting, it’s very casual. Last summer we had a pop-up wedding,” Zografos said, recounting how a couple had invited their friends and family to a party at Level Two, only to surprise their guests with a wedding.
“It probably was the most unique wedding I’ve seen here… people were pretty shocked,” he said, adding, “Occasionally, we’ll get people who want to come propose on the rooftop, take some pictures, get some of the skyline.”
Missing music? Level Two has DJ’s, two and three piece bands. Need catering? The Greek’s offers one of Greek Town’s highest rated mediterranean cuisine per social media.
“Our greek food is exceptional … but we can always alter it… Some people want really extravagant, some people want very simple … if something’s not on here, I’m going to do my best to try and see if I can make that happen for you … We can’t create every item, but we will try our best.”
Rain or shine, with its spacious downstairs even a thunderstorm can’t stop a rooftop party at Level Two.
“We’re a rooftop, in the event of bad weather, we can always move an event inside here. If it’s outside, it can be covered as well.“
Client Ellie Connors said, “When we were looking for our day party venues … something that was really nice about Level Two is how affordable it was and it’s still very nice and classy. That was really attractive to us ... it’s right in the heart of downtown detroit.”
